New Year's is a great time for each person to give their lives a makeover. So, as a resemblance of the traditional New Year's makeover, I decided to take an old pair of Toms (since I received a new pair for Christmas) and give them a makeover as well. This is just a start, I'm hoping to add on to them, kind of like giving my shoes a tattoo instead of imprinting one on my body.
The project is fairly simple. Toms canvas shoes are the best to work with, so use an old pair of Toms (or even buy a new pair!). Grab a few pieces of embroidery thread, scissors and embroidery needles. Chalk out a design on the canvas since chalk is easy to wipe off afterward. Then, embroider the design. Use different colors to accent the design, give it some life :)
To embroider, simply tie a knot at the end of the thread, go through the first hole on the bottom, go through the second hole on the top, then skip to the third hole underneath, then go backwards back to the second over the top. Repeat to the fourth hole by going through the hole from the bottom first.
Flaunt your new shoes on New Year's Day, and enjoy not only your new shoe makeover, but your personal makeover as well!
